Hi! Come on in Through the Front Door.
If you’re new here, welcome.
My name is Kendra S. and I love all things Interior Design & Home Decor.
I also own and run my very own Interior Design company, White Ridge Designs.
Ok, now that we’ve gone through formalities, let’s dig in!
Today, we’ll be exploring design trends and styles that are dominating in people’s homes today aka “trending”.
I’ll try to keep it as short and informative as possible!
Also, I’d like to invite you to take this opportunity to decide if any of these trends describe a style that you like. If you’d like, you can let me know which one is your favorite!
If you’re like me, you love window shopping and on those special occasions, ACTUALLY shopping ha.
I’ll try my best to link some decor items that fit the different design styles to make it easier for you to get your shopping/window shopping done.
Let’s begin!
MODERN FARMHOUSE
You caught me. I love Modern Farmhouse.
Something about the modern yet rustic feel all brought together by warm tones just does it for me.
Modern Farmhouse design style features clean lines and a minimalistic feel. You’ll find a neutral color palette with some dark beams on a vaulted ceiling, warming up the atmosphere and making you feel right at home.
This design style exhibits a pleasant mix of old and new.
You’ll have some beautiful honed marble garnishing the kitchen, and a rustic, weathered bench welcoming you through the entryway.
Modern Farmhouse is sweeping the nation with its warm, cozy feel. Thumbs up from me.

CONTEMPORARY
It’s very important to realize that Contemporary is in no way Modern Design. Modern Design more so applies to a time period where Contemporary Design is always changing.
Contemporary Design features bright colors, a minimalist feel, spacey areas, and natural materials like concrete.
You’ll find glass tables and hints of color in the decor splashed throughout the space.
Contemporary Design is very streamlined and sleek, leaving room for the eye to notice the space throughout the room.

TRADITIONAL
Traditional Design is one that never goes out of style.
Its warm neutrals and dark hardwood floors are accompanied by intricate wood work via wainscoting, crown moldings, detailed bookcases, and fireplaces.
Because natural wood is such a huge component of this design, you can surely expect to be surrounded by some amazing architectural pieces and moments embedded into the home.
We’ll find neutral color schemes and pops of rich color such as greens and reds.
Traditional design can sometimes take on a moody, dark feel when warmer wood tones are used that I think is absolutely gorgeous.
This design style was inspired by the 18th & 19th centuries and does not seem to be going out of style any time soon.

ORGANIC MODERN
This breath-taking design trend just feels so elevated.
Organic modern design is unique in the way that it is a combination of 3 styles: Minimalism, Mid-Century Modern, and Boho.
This style is made up of clean lines, smooth surfaces, and rounded shapes.
We’ll find natural materials such as stone, linen, leather, wood, metals, and concrete and a neutral color pallet.
Organic Modern is everywhere in design and doesn’t seem to be a trend as much as a feeling.
The use of greenery throughout the space and the soft edges give this design an organic, earthy feel that is absolutely timeless.

SCANDINAVIAN
Hear me out. I believe this design style is so popular not only here in America, but also in other countries because it has that minimalist feel while still holding that “lived in” look.
While Scandinavian design is trademarked for its minimalistic style, warm furniture choices, use of natural woods, and a color palette that ranges from whites to neutrals to blacks, we can still expect to see functionality and a few throw blankets here and there.
Scandi feels warm and inviting because it truly is centered around what works best for everyday living.
I personally love this style because it can be as warm or as sleek as you choose.
